Gamesa Electric (GAMESA) is a 100% subsidiary of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE). Gamesa Electric is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacturing of electrical equipment, with extensive experience in wind, solar and hydroelectric energy with a new business line dedicated to battery energy storage. The company provides solutions globally to solve the most demanding market requirements for its customers.
During the project, the main technical specifications of the prototype will be outlined by Gamesa Electric and will serve as an input and guidance for other partners to start the development of the main components of the battery as well as integrating the proper power electronics for the system after the validation of the battery stack. Additionally, together with Siemens Gamesa, the two partners will demonstrate and validate a full-size prototype with the BoP components at “La Plana”; Siemens Gamesa’s hybrid pilot plant located near Zaragoza (Spain). Other significant participation from Gamesa Electric is to carry out safety analysis and life cycle analysis of the HIGREEW battery. Gamesa Electric will also be responsible for developing a parametric techno-economic model of the HIGREEW battery system to estimate the levelized cost of storage (LCOS). This analysis will be carried out throughout the entire project lifetime, as it will be continuously updated based on the technical and economical inputs from other project participants.
